Holbrook Travel is dedicated to offering quality educational, natural history, and specialty travel programs to groups and individuals. Major channels of distribution include nature and birding organizations, alumni associations, educational institutions, a wide array of special interest clubs, and private travel for families and friends. Our primary regions of expertise are Central America, South America and Africa. Countries such as Costa Rica, Belize, Chile, Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands, Peru, Kenya, Tanzania, and South Africa are some of the regions in which we create our own programs through direct negotiation. Holbrook also owns and operates Selva Verde Lodge and Private Reserve in Costa Rica.

 

About this position

This entry-level position in our Marketing team requires a broad range of skills and an organized and motivated individual. The Communications Coordinator has multiple marketing roles, including copywriting, website updates, collateral support, email marketing, and the creation and distribution of informational packets to our travelers. This position supports the Marketing department with ongoing mailings and projects including writing, proofreading, and design.

Applicants must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and work well both independently and within a team environment. Experience in a Marketing department, digital marketing jobs, and international travel are considered a plus for applicants.

The position is based in our Gainesville, Florida office.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports design and production of marketing collateral including brochures, website content, e-newsletters, and other projects as needed
  • Writes and edits copy for travel programs, including highlights and day-by-day itinerary
  • Prepares and sends mailings and informational packets to our travelers and group leaders
  • Follows Holbrook's brand identity with consistent editorial style, format, and design elements
  • Efficiently prints and collates mailing materials; carefully reviews content for accuracy
  • Assists with preparation of booth for conventions/conferences
  • Monitors and posts content for social networking accounts and blogs
  • Assists with marketing research, analysis, and lead management
  • Assists with photo editing and design projects
  • Sorts and distributes company mail
  • Keeps inventory of supplies for client mailings

 

Required Qualifications

  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading abilities; strong grasp of grammar and spelling
  • Strong computer skills; proficient with email systems, web technology, Adobe software, and Microsoft Office
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Self-motivated; able to work without supervision; fast learner
  • Interpersonal skills; able to work collaboratively in teams and interact effectively with all levels of staff
  • Able to multi-task; can handle and prioritize many projects at once
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Physical requirements: Must be able to sit for up to 8 hours a day, stand up to 3 hours a day, and lift up to 30 lbs

 

PREFERRED Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign
  • 1+ year in a copywriting or editing role
  • Background in a related field (journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, advertising, etc.)
  • Professional experience with social media
  • Interest in world cultures

 

Job Type

Full-time; hybrid in-office/remote schedules available

 

Pay

$28,000 - $32,000 per year
