My trip to Alaska with the Texas Association of Biology Teachers was brilliant! I believe people say “everything is bigger in Texas,” but I think Alaska gave them a run for their money. We had such an amazing and diverse travel group filled with teachers not only from Texas, but different parts of the United States and Canada as well. We were able to share our teaching stories and pedagogy expertise along with making life-long friendships and travel memories. The highlight had to be kayaking aside massive icebergs and famous glaciers, ultimately ice trekking to the top of one and repelling down. I will never forget the sounds of the glacier calving and the crackling of the ice melting. It is the friends we meet along the way that help us appreciate the journey and bring new energy to our souls. I am forever thankful my trip to Alaska provided that nourishment to my life.
