Photos from the field interpreted by artists

We recently had two wildlife artists recreate two of our photos that were taken in Brazil and the Galápagos Islands! Their interesting portrayals make us see the original photos in a whole new light.

Photo by Dick Daniels. Dick went on two Holbrook trips in 2010 with safari photography leader Todd Gustafson. One trip was to Maasai Mara, Kenya, and the other was to Pantanal, Brazil, where Dick went on a "quest for the jaguar" and took this very photo. Click here to join Todd's next program!

Art by Corina St. Martin. Corina received a degree in Graphic Design from the School of Advertising Art in Kettering, OH and has been creating art her entire life. Wildlife is not only her main focus in art, but also a major passion in her life. Visit her website for more.

Photo by Dain Van Shoyck. Dain is the former Creative Director at Holbrook Travel, and he took this photo on his trip to the Galápagos Islands.

Art by  Roger D Hall. Roger is a Berkeley, CA based scientific illustrator who loves the outdoors and the environment. He has drawn books and created hundreds of drawings. Visit his website to see more.

Photo of the Month: November 2025
Above: On the way to see baobab trees at sunset on the red dirt roads in the bush of Madagascar, we stopped as the young goat herders crossed directly in front of us, looking like majestic figures in the sunlit, dusty glow. It felt like the scene of a movie, and this photo captured the feeling of that moment perfectly.
