Marion Grzanowski's Adventures: Galápagos and Machu Picchu Days 10 & 11

Marion Grzanowski recently traveled to the Galápagos Islands and Machu Picchu with Road Scholar.  Day by day accounts of his travels can be found at http://2012-gimp-adventure.blogspot.com Read days 8 & 9 here. Day 10: At Black Turtle Cove on Santa Cruz Island, the morning is shared with some exotic marine life.
A quiet dinghy ride through the mangroves.  The motor will be turned off to allow close observation of marine turtles, white tipped reef sharks, yellow rays and other marine species
Today Marion, Carol, and the rest of their group will fly to Guayaquil. Over in Guayaquil, it's a full afternoon of getting up close and personal with iguanas and a little leisure time at the lovely Malecón (river walk).  Malecón is a tourist favorite, so the group is sure to enjoy their afternoon.  [caption id="attachment_4764" align="aligncenter" width="550"]Marion G 10 -- Photo by: Marion Grzanowski[/caption]

 Day 11:

After a delayed flight, Marion and the group get to spend a little extra time at their hotel as they wait for their flight.  The original flight was to take them to Cusco, but they end up having to fly to Lima for a night.

Marion gets to see firsthand how large Lima really is.  It is home to 10 million residents!

Photo of the Month: November 2025
Above: On the way to see baobab trees at sunset on the red dirt roads in the bush of Madagascar, we stopped as the young goat herders crossed directly in front of us, looking like majestic figures in the sunlit, dusty glow. It felt like the scene of a movie, and this photo captured the feeling of that moment perfectly.
