In 2005, the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) created National Environmental Education Week, or EE Week, to celebrate and encourage environmental education in classrooms across the country. This year’s EE Week will be April 14 through April 20.

Aimed at educators and organizations involved with grades K-12, this initiative provides non-biased educational materials to enhance environmental learning and motivate students to make a difference. EE Week occurs each year during the week before Earth Day.

The 2013 EE Week theme is “Greening STEM: Taking Technology Outdoors.” STEM stands for the school subjects of science, technology, engineering, and math. This theme focuses on the significance of these subjects and their effects on technological developments for environmental research.
