Maya Culture and Birding Adventures in the Yucatan

Chris Fisher recently traveled on the Road Scholar program Birding the Mayan Ruins of the Yucatan Peninsula. His 13-day adventure was filled with exploring incredible archaeological sites such as Chichen Itza and Palenque. Chris also had the opportunity to see over 200 bird species, some very rare, while being led by his guides Emilio and Alex. Some of the bird species they observed were the Yucatan Woodpecker, the Brown-headed Flycatcher, the Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, and the Royal Flycatcher. Chris had a wonderful experience through birding and immersing himself in Maya culture.
