It is with great sadness and regret that we announce the passing of Frank Richmond. Frank died on Sunday, March 2nd surrounded by his family after a battle with cancer.
Frank joined Holbrook Travel in February 1990 and recently celebrated his 24th anniversary with our team. As Senior Vice President, Frank developed and implemented travel programs worldwide and was the leader for Holbrook’s Road Scholar programming for over 20 years. His incredible creativity and ability to bring out the best in people set the standard for Holbrook that continues to prevail.
Frank was always ahead of the curve in understanding the needs and interests of travelers, and ushered in many “slam dunks” such as programming focused on health and wellness, energizing bodies and minds, nature as a teacher, intergenerational travel, women-only programs, dance, digital photography, and many more. Frank deeply believed that people can evolve professionally and personally when their growth is properly cultivated, and he took a personal interest in the development of staff in our offices and overseas. His authenticity, encouragement, and recognition of each individual’s potential were the foundation that many built upon to grow and develop their expertise.
Frank was an avid reader and thinker who delighted in devouring biographies and history, leadership, and self-development literature. Frank authored a book, Travel with a Higher Purpose, which embodied many of his beliefs about how travel can be a powerful medium for self-discovery and transformation. Frank’s extraordinary intuition and sensitivity for the human spirit translated into thousands of life-changing moments not only for our travelers, but also for our guides, our staff, and everyone he met.
Today, we grieve the loss of an honored colleague, a valued mentor, and a beloved friend. Our team extends our love, support, and deepest sympathies to Frank’s wife Jill and the Richmond family.
Rest in peace, Coach.
In lieu of flowers, the Richmond family has requested donations to Friends of Meali International, an organization close to Frank's heart.
