Holbrook Travel's very own Bernadette Bernard traveled to beautiful Costa Rica with Road Scholar in 2012. Here is a day by day account of her travels:
Day 8
As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end, and so did this wonderful experience in Costa Rica. We returned to the city of San José for our departure back to U.S. However, there was still more to be seen and enjoyed on that day.
We visited the local butterfly garden, which had many different types of butterflies and even a vast collection of arthropods, ants and beetles. During this activity we learned good points about the ecological importance of insects and the many benefits they present for humans.
En route to San José was a stop in Sarchí where shopping was irresistible. We visited the Oxcart Factory and took lots of pictures with the workers. Having spent all my money on this last shopping excursion, we then continued on our way to San José where we arrived around 4:00 p.m. We checked in, refreshed, and got ready for the final briefing/closing of the program followed by a farewell dinner.
Day 9
Those who did not prearrange to extend their stay in Costa Rica at the end of the program, along with myself, departed for their international flight back to the U.S with so many fond memories of Costa Rica. The others continued to enjoy and learn about this most interesting and hospitable country.
