Participate in this cross-disciplinary international initiative to study the behavior and distribution of the Ruby-throated Hummingbird and contribute to a cutting-edge research and monitoring project.
|
|
|
|
- Hands-on citizen science assisting with deploying mist nets and traps, collecting and recording data. You will handle and release hummers and other colorful tropical birds as part of the international campaign Operation RubyThroat
- Receive optional training and certification for GLOBE’s hummingbird protocol
- Explore these ecosystems: tropical hardwood forests,
tropical dry forests,
dry mountain regions, mangrove swamp estuaries, and beaches
- Enjoy wildlife observation – look out for peccaries, sloths, monkeys, various butterflies, and over 300 species of birds
- Inspect an active volcano in
Rincon de la Vieja National Park
- Hike at night for a special insight into the forest
- Full-day field trip to
Santa Rosa National Park,
an important site for seasonal sea turtle nesting
- Ride on horseback (optional) to
thermal springs
- Experience Costa Rican culture
Program Cost Per Person - $1595
Rate is based on double occupancy with a minimum of 12 persons traveling. Single rooms available for an additional supplement of $355.
