events in the Big Island's rich volcanic and tectonic setting. Examine lava flows, summit calderas
(craters), tephra ash deposits, fissures, pit craters, lava tubes,
fault scarps, littoral cones, a coastal lava delta, and other volcanic
features. Explore plate tectonic processes with
resident experts. Observe and discuss mountain-top glacial
deposits. Study coastal environments and study
fringing reef platform. Examine an archeological field featuring
petroglyph scattered throughout an old pahoehoe lava flow. Study geological and volcanological events in the Big Island's rich volcanic
and tectonic setting.
