Assurance
We are committed to providing international academic experiences that are both enriching and safe to each participant. In addition, we would like to make these experiences as accessible as possible. To these ends, we would like to share with you our Holbrook Assurance Plan to foster informed decision making and your ease of mind for future planning.

Dear Holbrook Coordinators, Participants, and Interested Parties,

Holbrook has long supported the efforts of thousands of students and adults on their life long quest to enhance global understandings. We have chosen and maintained our selection of country opportunities based on up-to-date US Department of State reports, embassy reporting, and intimate on-going dialog with our field operation teams. Over the years we have taken pro-active measures to halt programming in specific areas based on risk assessment and employ this policy actively today in all of our destinations. It is important to note that in our long-standing experience, communities throughout Latin America and further abroad have shown great support for the United States and embrace our quest to learn more about their cultures and environments.

Holbrook is committed to providing educational learning opportunities that puts the safety of our participants above all else. We strive to ensure the rich opportunities for global understanding and awareness. We cannot predict the events of the future, but are secure in our experiences of the past and our coordinations for safe travel. As Mark Twain once reflected, Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. May we be inspired by the communities and environments of the world to learn about our communities, our global inheritance, and ourselves!

Vice President of Academic Programming

Holbrook Assurance Plan
Financial Freedom
  • Holbrook maintains a long standing, virtually no-risk, financial policy for all group travel. All investments made prior to 75 days before departure for most destinations are fully refundable excluding the $100 per person program cancellation fee. Destinations such as the Galapagos, Africa and the South Pacific, may have slightly more stringent conditions which will be outlined on your program proposal.

  • In the event of:

    A. Issuance of US State Department Travel Warning specifically for the country in which the group is slated to visit within 60 days from departure

    B. Issuance of a Severe Threat Condition, Code Red, by Homeland Security within 30 days from departure

Holbrook will offer groups the option of a full refund (excluding $100 per person program cancellation fee and any applicable air penalties, which range from $150 to $250) or the opportunity to reschedule their programming while maintaining land program rates for travel commencing during the same season for up to one year from originally scheduled program. (Ex. Programming from Spring 2005 may be re-scheduled to Spring 2006) Air rates are subject to change.
Security and Safety
  • Holbrook registers all group members with US Embassy within the country of travel. This policy ensures communications for all US citizens during the time of travel and ensures proper US support in the event of an emergency or evacuation.

  • Holbrook employs both radio and cell capability in all destinations and tracks all groups while in the field. Areas of high tourist activity are generally avoided.

  • Holbrook incorporates the ITINERARY PROTECTION PLAN for all group travel, offering strategic limited information about group progressions to avoid planned aggressions. Our field headquarters and the 24-hour guides are the only other parties, which have access to entire program details. Each lodge, research station, etc. is not privy to the full itinerary of the group.

  • For leaders wishing to commence programming without school board support or institutional sanctioning, Holbrook will include these leaders and their constituents as riders on our 5 million-dollar liability policy. Call us for full description and support.

  • Holbrook employs annual guide training for Wilderness First Respondent Certification maintaining strict requirements for health safety and medical coordination's in most destinations.
Revised Fall 2004 and effective immediately.
